The Board of Directors of the Internet Association - which has lobbied Washington since 2012 on behalf of 40+ major internet companies, and was self-described as "the unified voice of the internet economy" - has announced in a statement on InternetAssociation.org that the organization will be closed at the end of 2021.

Staff resignations, including that of longtime CEO Michael Beckerman who jumped ship in 2020 to join TikTok, along with withdrawal of financial support by Microsoft, Uber and others - which it appears no longer want to be associated with Google, Facebook and Amazon, perhaps because of antitrust issues - created insurmountable obstacles to continued operation of the lobbying organization.
