In its Economic Impact Report 2018 released this week Google claims to have put $335B into the US national economy in 2018 via its core advertising products as used by 1.3M American businesses, publishers and nonprofits:
- Google Ads for businesses
- Google AdSense for publishers
- Google Ad Grants for nonprofits
Also that in 2018:
- More than 1.3M American businesses, publishers and nonprofits used its ad products
- Google helped drive US-wide over 1B direct connections like phone calls and online bookings
- Over 35% of clickthroughs from Google ads to US businesses came from outside the country
- American businesses using online ads and data analytics had revenue growth 4X that of "less digitally advanced" businesses
- Google employed full-time more than 64,000 people in 21 US States
Google says its impact numbers don't include economic activity of its employees or that from any of its products (like Google Maps, YouTube) other than its core advertising products as listed above.
